Love Birds (1996) is a Tamil feature film comedy musical directed by P. Vasu. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by A. R. Rahman. Starring Prabhu Deva and Nagma, the film met with commercial success upon release, and the music of the film was especially appreciated. Prabhu Deva also provided the choreography in the film, viewed as another highlight. It was remade in Hindi as Bollywood's 2000 blockbuster movie, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai.

Two people fall in love but are separated under tragic circumstances.

After accidentally meeting, Mridula (Nagma) and Arun (Prabhu Deva) fall in love. The young couple both come from affluent families, and so, to test whether they will be suited for a long term relationship, they both decide to live together for one year. However, a few months into their relationship, Arun passes away. A devastated Mridula is unable to get over her loss, and before long starts seeing Arun in strange visions everywhere she goes. Her family eventually decide that relocating to another country might help Mridula move on, and so they send her to the UK. Once she arrives there, she meets Mano, a young man attracted to her. She ends up falling for Mano. Mridula appears to be recovering from her loss. She informs her parents that things are getting better for her, she has met a new man, and that she is even planning to get married to him. However, in a sudden change of heart, Mridula runs away from home the next day, and breaks off her relationship with Mano. When she eventually does return home, her family realise Mridula has relapsed, and her visions of Arun have returned again.
