I am a huge fan of A.R. Rahman.Yesterday when i was listening to the track of Lion King's " Who do you love? who do u need when you come undone...." found similarities in opening tune of "Guzarish..." of Ghajini and theme and also background score of the total album.I have heard it several times before come to conclusion ARRahman has copied the tune of "Guzarish..."of the film Ghajini from Lion Kings track. Now i can say most of the track of the film were inspired by the song of Lion king like "kaise mujhe.."-a track of Ghajini but Rahman somewhere used different tempo & also used different instruments to make it bollywood type. Some variation was made by putting some new tune and feelings to it. But it fails to prove original. This may be the work load that made him doing that. But a legend like him should not do this.

mr kaushik.. i dont agree with ur research i saw ur link and heard what was there and compared it with guzaarish song.. well my friend i dont know what made u think it was copied from this song. it might sound similar coz may be these songs are composed of a similar instruments. that doesnt mean it is copied.. u will feel it coz of the tempo of the songs also.. but calling it that its been copied completely is not fair its easy to make comparisons but there must be facts in the research.

for those whose who dont believe that rahman sometimes directly copies the beat or the bassline from other songs.. try to get the following songs n listen to them

I think Kaushik never listened to "Guzarish" song completely. Both of the songs are completely different( I listened to both of the songs once again). You may find some raagas matching at the beginning but its very foolish to say Rahman copied(sorry for writing) The Guzarish song is completely Rahman style. I think Kavushik does'nt know music and not a true fan of Rahman don't try to defame Rahman. The more you defame him the more you gets defamed. So, try to appreciate the Oscar winner. for your information this song is called Come on undone - Duran Duran. I really dont any similarities between the two songs that your talking about. May be a little inspiration. And to ppl who thinks Rahman never was inspired by western music. Listen to the Themettkku - Karuthamma and listen to Dr.Alban's One Love album even he him self had said he took bits from this album for this Karuthamma song and Mukka - Kadhalan.
Also it's really not sin to be inspired by another persons creation. So people dont worry it's really not that bad.
Rahman copied a lot of tunes, mostly from Malayalam old films. Due to his workload he reused some of his tamil songs to hindi movies and viceversa. Western songs influence and similarities are lot in Rahman songs, but his way of making is impressive. His orchestration is very different and he has his own style. Hats off to u man.....

If Rahman Sir or his Director's want the music and feel that can be the Best for any song then he can use it... but that i dont think i have ever heard any of his tracks after that which matches with other music.
As Sirji has his own style and whatever he do he does it on his own style.....

ReplyDeletehe may ve inspired by some foreign tunes... which is nt a bad thing, inspiration is part of life even u n me are inspired with others....
Guys i feel that there is one small line separating copying and getting inspired. I most of the cases where ARRs songs sound alike to some other piece is mainly because of his inspiration towards them. He never copies blatantly like other cheap music directors.
