Ooh La La La – TV Show - Behind The Story
Oohalalala Curtain Raiser Episode on Sun TV!
By Nandkumar (Netizen Reporter)
The much awaited band talent hunt musical program Mirinda Oohalalala under the auspices of the great AR Rahman was aired on Sun TV on Sunday, 22 July 2007 at 10.00 PM. It was a curtain raiser episode with comments from the hearts of established stars in the musical arena comprising of Sankar Mahadaven, Sivamani, Vasundhara Dass, Unnikrishnan, Naresh Iyer, Pa Vijay, Malgudi Shuba and others speaking about strategies of successful band and singing praises of the great AR and his unflinching support for show.

A common message from these stars to the aspiring bands was emphasis on team work and make use of the golden opportunity provided by AR. The initial episode was a glimpse of all auditions held at Chennai, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Salem and Madurai. The participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers for the opportunities given to showcase their talents and went to shower their praise by saluting the great AR with best possible superlatives such as “legend of creativity”, “innovator of technical music”, “reinventer of Vande Matram” and “true global Indian”, who influenced the retention of Taj as one of the seven wonder through his special song.

Amidst all the excitement, the cool AR Rahman recalled his precious moments in the past and spoke about the finer aspects of music comparing band teamwork to how in a symphony, a team of 80 plus artists produces one single tone. In the background AR classic tones were played when he was explaining different tones for difference scenes whether it is love, war, fun, a piece of unique music for every occasion. Adding more fervour to the occasion was different tune of oohlala being played unplugged exhibiting the creativity of the participating bands.

There are scores of music shows hunting for playback singers call them star voice of India or Indian idol but nothing for men behind success of playback singers or the hit songs of the films. AR Rahman has changed the music scenario by making choregraphers dance to his tunes compared to yesteryear music directors, who had to provide music according to the dance.

The recognition his band team members got for their skills speaks volume for the man who likes to share his success with his team members rather on swallowing all the adulation himself. Here the legend of musical humility lends his ears to talented bands and would judge the winner at end of series. The winning band will cut an album with AR Rahman as the ultimate gratification.

Tune in every Sunday to watch musical tunes, you have never heard before, garden fresh soothing music played by amateurs with professional touch.
