  • Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Tamil: விண்ணைத்தாண்டி வருவாயா, English: Will you Cross the Skies for Me?) is a 2010 Tamil romance film directed and written by Gautham Menon.
  • The film's story was also simultaneously shot and released by Menon in the Telugu language as Ye Maaya Chesave with a different cast,
  • The film, began its initial schedule in February 2009, following a mystery launch with a series of publicity posters being launched without details of the cast or crew.Shooting continued through 2009, with the film garnering significant media interest, through schedules in Malta and the United States.
  • Prior to release, the film became the first Tamil project to have a music soundtrack premiered, abroad from India, with a successful launch at the BAFTA in London.
  • The film, released on 26 February 2010, along with the Telugu version to advanced bookings worldwide.
  • Upon release, the film achieved positive reviews, with several critics giving the film "classic" status, whilst also become a commercially successful venture. The movie has been declared as a blockbuster
  • In late January 2009, speculation arose surrounding a potential collaboration between Silambarasan Rajendar, Gautham Menon and A. R. Rahman, but neither member confirmed the news .However, in a surprise move, in early February 2009 a poster appeared in Indian papers featuring Silambarasan, but with no other names of crew members.
  • Furthermore, the early poster suggested that the film was titled Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, in homage to the song "Vennilavae Vennilavae" from the 1997 film, Minsaara Kanavu.
  • Subsequently, each day leading up til Valentine's Day saw the launch of a new poster, still without details of the crew except the inclusion of Trisha Krishnan as the lead actress; posters released after the one tributing Minsara Kanavu were posters of famous stills from Dil Se, Alaipayuthey, Kaakha Kaakha and Geethanjali.
  • The film eventually surfaced as a Gautham Menon film, with music by Rahman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, with Gautham stating that the film would be return to the love genre after having opted to direct action thriller post his debut venture, Minnale.
  • The shooting started on February 14 and was held in several locations as Malta, Kerala, Chennai, Trichy, Thanjavur and Rome.
  • The songs of the film was shot in Malta at sets and choreographed by Flexi Stu, a very famous choreographer.
  • After striking gold at Music Chart's, the Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa team has planned to put more efforts to strike the audience with a good choreography of the hit song Aaromale. So the producers have called Trisha and Silambarasan for this shooting
  • The film took a grand opening, grossing 64,66,062 rupees in its first three days in Chennai The performances from Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan have garnered largely positive reviews.
  • The film also garnered positive reviews from other review websites like Rediff and Sify.
  • The film grossed Rs.5.75 Crore at the Chennai (in and around Chennai city) box office by its 12th weekend. The movie has been declared as a blockbuster.
  • The Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman, scoring for the first time for a Gautham Menon film, for the same-titled Tamil film, directed by Gautham Menon.
  • Lyrics are penned by Menon's usual associate, Thamarai along with Kalyani Menon and Kaithapram, the latter penning the Malayalam lyrics in the album.
  • The album was released on 19 December 2009 in London with several film personalities participating at the grand function. It was the first time that a Tamil film audio release was held in London.
  • Before the official audio release on 19 December 2009 in London and 12 January 2010 in Chennai, Hosanna track was leaked onto the internet. Later the track was officially released with the same singer but another strophe had been added to the song.
  • Along with the other instrumental pieces, a rock song starting Jessie's Been Driving Me Crazy appears in the background. This song is composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics provided by Blaaze and was sung by Sanjeev Thomas and Timmy.

  • Ye Maya Chesave (Telugu: ఏమాయ చేసావే English: How have you charmed me?) is a 2010 Telugu romance film directed and story by Gautham Menon, which features Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in her feature film debut, in the lead roles.
  • Both the films were made and released simultaneously. The Tamil version, with the initial schedule with the lead cast in August 2009, following much speculation that Gautham Menon was set to remake the film with Manjula's brother, Mahesh Babu.
  • Shooting continued through the latter part of 2009, with the film garnering significant media interest, with schedules in the United States, with Princeton University being used as a backdrop for song picturisation.
  • Prior to release, the film's music soundtrack experienced phenomenal success for a Telugu film, with Rahman being critically praised for his score
  • The film, released on 26 February 2010, along with the Tamil version to advanced bookings worldwide and received positive reviews and became a good hit.
