Thenali – Behind The Story
  •  Thenali is a Tamil film which released on November 7, 2000 and was directed by K. S. Ravikumar.
  • The film was inspired by the Hollywood movie What About Bob?. In turn, the song "Swasame" later appeared in the end credits to the 2008 Hollywood film, The Accidental Husband.
  • The film grossed $4 million at the box office.
  • Mohanlal was originally planned to do the role, eventually done by Jayaram.
  • Similarly Simran Bagga was originally planned to take up the role, eventually done by Jyothika Saravanan, as the former was too busy in the industry.
  • Inspired by the success of Thenali, Kamal Hassan followed up on other laughter-riots Pammal K. Sambandam and Panchathanthiram and Vasool Raja MBBS.
  • The soundtrack of the film was composed by A.R.Rahman.
  • All of the songs became chartbusters, particularily the song Swasamae.
